It's not so much the larger displacement, it is a better design that addresses many of the twin cam short comings like excessive heat. The way they designed the combustion chamber, a lot less heat gets transferred to the head.

The engine is in the 2017 touring bikes and will make it into the other bikes in the next year or two.

To me there are two better alternatives to buying a 2016 Dyna. Either buy a gently used Evo for around five thousand or wait a year or two and buy a Milwaukee 8 powered Dyna.

We also know that the core frame is in the works.

2016 if you can find them all the way. 2017 is here and in all the commotion about the new M8 powered Tourings, there will be a rush to either get a 2017 Touring or a monster discount on the 2016 Tourings.

Lost in the commotion will be sales of every other family they make for the next few months. 2016 Dyna will be where you get your deal. No changes that I can see other than MSRP going up on the '17.

Find a 2016 Dyna, even if it isnt the Olive Goldcolor you want. Btw, it IS a beautiful color. My 2007 Fatboy wore the Olive Pearl as it was known back then very well. Always got compliments on it. If you cant find it, make your salesman work on the 2016 price of whats in stock.

Good luck.

You wont go wrong with a Twin Cam 103. You live in a free state man, you have easy access to any high performance part you can imagine. Even in stock form, you'll forget all about the 1200 on the ride home from the dealer, i guarantee it.

Street Bob is the best bang for your buck Big Twin out there. But, my advice? Consider a Low Rider as well. For about another $1000 you get dual front disc brakes, 2 up configuration from the get go, the upgraded Hi Output 103, and a decent 2-1 headpipe. Swap the Stock muffler for a Thunderheader muffle and a tune.. dude your set. After that its all about bars, more chrome or planning a black out treatment.

My opinion only of course.

If I were in your situation it would all come down to the color and price. Common sense tells me you will be able to get a better price on the 2016 but you never know. The fact that there were really no changes between the 16 and 17 Street Bob should make the decision come down to which one you can get the best deal on. The only other factor would be resale if you decide to sell a few years down the road. In that case if there is not a big difference in the price I would opt for 2017 just to have a bit of an advantage with resale

If you are stupid. are you stupid? I know you aren't. There were no changes... hell, why not a 12/13/14/15? Ego and green paint.... are they worth 5000?

Figure out your trade value before you go in. Be realistic about that and what youre willing to pay for a maximum out the door price.

Remember, OTD pricing and your interest rate and loan duration set your max payment per month. Establish that and recalculate amount financed less your trade value. Figure what you need for trade value to get payments you want. If your trade value and needed trade value are close, youre good to go.
