Stock 15 street bob besides pipes, air cleaner, fp3 tuner. If I was going to mod the motor what's the best bang for the buck? Not sure....I'd say cams, but typically on car engines that I've built you might as well do the heads also to see their full potential. Not sure if stock ported heads or just get screaming eagle. And if go that far am i getting into new injectors and intakes...etc. dont wanna go hog wild as....been there done that in the past. Any suggestions or constructive criticisms would be appreciated.
It depends on the lift and characteristics of the cams you want to add. Some perform better with stock compression ratios and others run best at 10.5:1. Cams only if you want to go mild. Add heads or headwork if you are going with cams with enough lift that they require head mods, and then high compression pistons if you are going to use cams requiring them. My dyna has all of the above plus some, my fatboy will be a low compression build.
For a single mod - moderate cams will be something you can feel.
I would suggest looking at some dyno sheets for the Cycle Rama 570 cams. My research indicates that these are probably the best bang for the buck for a stock or nearly stock engine. Impressive bottom end torque with a really good peak at stock compression, even better with a .030 head gasket. A set of these is going to be my winter project for my Lowrider. Check them out.
Respectable numbers there... I am at the Verrrrry early stages of cam selection, and the 555 is one I will be looking at. How do you like it?
I'm waiting till winter to do the cam. Just got the bike on the street two weeks ago from the initial mods. On the motor I just have the AC, Dyna 2 into 1, and Power Vision. Just with the stage one it is a completely different bike and tracks the E-Moto numbers as to those mods. I'm putting my trust in the cams. That said, the 555's with my stage 1 is proven setup that would make me happy. I'm sure the are a hundred opinions out there, but this is mine.
