I'm going for an UltraCool "Reefer" in gloss black.

Awesome. That is exactly the one I am getting. I was all set to order it when an unexpected expense popped up. Look forward to your thoughts on it!

Sounds like you are looking for a 'complete' oil change. Have you considered a scavenger oil change kit? I use the one made by Rogue Chopper, but there are also homespun ways to do it. On my softail, I basically drain all the oil out I can... pour a couple of fresh quarts into the oil tank... disconnect the oil return line going in to the oil tank... and divert it to an empty 2-liter bottle... then run the engine until I see clean oil going into the bottle (usually about 32 ounces). You then button everything back together and top off with new oil. This is the best way I know to reliably get all the old oil out of the engine during an oil change.

The internet says so. Plenty info on the founder and his right hand man, fuzzy face. I was looking at a ton of information on these thing a while back crossed off ultracool early on due to complaints of leaking fittings and the sheer size of the unit. There's way more tech in there and i stole the led "fan-on" indicator idea from them. i used on the last bike and have parts to install on the new one just haven't done it yet.

Igor has an ultracool and is happy with it.

He's had it for a while ask him about it.

While I have no links for their credentials, there is some pretty positive feedback from guys here that have installed them. So, you were able to find the credentials for the boys at Jagg? Are you an engineer, by chance?

I found those complaints as well, which gave me pause. However it seems that they are pretty old, so they may have updated the unit since then. I am holding off until I get some more research in. There's always Jagg. The ONE thing about the Jagg I like is the higher mount - and since half the fittings are not directly under the bike, it gives it a 50% chance that if it fails catastrophically the oil will soak my left leg vs. 100% guaranteed to soak the rear wheel.

But the UC uses AN fittings which are supposed to be pretty blow off proof. I'd really like to know if the older, leaky ones used them.

They covered some of this in this video:

I just spoke to one of the tech's at ultracool about my concerns around the early version leak reports. He said they were indeed true and were corrected a few years ago when they switched vendors for their fittings and hoses. He also informed me that they JUST started including a new gasket for between their adapter and the bike, which has a higher heat rating. He is sending me one no charge on Monday when they arrive.

Overall a helpful guy and seemingly good company, so I'm going to give it a shot. Found it on Amazon for $369 shipped. Not bad.

Please expand on the "led fan-on"...I've been thinking of doing this, but haven't come up with a clean place to mount a led. How'd you do it?

a led piggy-backed onto the fan power cable that lets me know the oil cooler fan is running.

Thanks. I've been thinking for awhile about adding a LED indicator for the fan, but hadn't figured out a clean way to mount it. Good idea.
