you have only had the bike a couple months the dealer that installed the motor should warranty there own work and fix the interconnect gasket because if it is the interconnect gasket those gaskets don't just fail it was installed wrong.
Real good point. Based on the description it does sound like the leak is between the engine and transmission, which would be a dealer installation issue.
Either way, hope the OP gets it sorted. Good luck.
The selling dealer is to look at leak and let me know! It should be covered IMHO because its a gasket not the motor? 120R scremin eagle is not warrantied!
As for the FEW drops of oil? Its a puddle! Plus its a 2016 low rider with 120R motor on it and 1700 miles and had it since end of July . The motor is not in warranty and one dealer looked at the oil leak and said its where the heads bolt onto the gear housing and said he did not think there is warranty. The gear box and lower assembly is suppose to be warranty but the motor is not! The dealer quoted me 826.00 for repair. I took it to the dealer I bought it from now has it and is hoping to get it covered under some kind of warranty. I think it should be covered because its not like the motor has a valve or push rod or mechanical issue from racing or hi RPM , I never get on it hard anyway! Since its a gasket and couple of seals and its also attached to the gear box I hope it is covered otherwise, I'll be pissed !
You bought a brand new bike and then had a motor put in it that clearly states that it has no warranty on it. If you were concerned for a warranty or reliability you should have left the bike stock or bought the lowrider S I think you may have been better going this route from what I have read in this post
Since you bought a motor with no warranty, bring it to an Indy and have them do a head gasket. Don't pay the dealer. And be prepared to pay for repairs going forward...
my dealer called and said it is the rear head gasket and said it is 650.00...but said that includes an oil change. I said forget the oil change because it was changed at 1000 miles and only has 1770 on bike now or 770 miles on last service. So he knocked off 100.00. So I end up paying 550.00. Which is still too much. It should be covered warranty because it is a gasket between the head and block. It is not the motor! So I am going to call Harley!
I keep saying head gasket! Its the cylinder gasket where it mounts to the block or gear box !
A gasket is as much a part of the motor as the pistons, rods or crankshaft. And if there is no warranty on the motor it won't matter what the problem is.
You bought a race motor without a warranty so stop whining about it. You're lucky it's only a head gasket.
