In a drag race from a roll, about 30 inches. Half a bike length. From about 40mph to a lot faster, is only half a length.
Right, looking at the numbers... 103 gets ~100tq @3250. 103ho gets ~105tq @3750.
Not worth barking about or calling the old 103 a slouch. It's negligible. Every time i looked at the numbers, i was like, "this makes no sense". 5%.... There's no advantage in lusting after a 103ho. I guess you could brag about the $20 intake at the bar.
Im an idiot so this is all just my opinion... which is worthless.
I'm looking to buy either a 2016 Fat Bob or a Low Rider S.
They have different engines, but the bikes have similar prices. I like them both.
Any opinions about either bike?
Fat Bob is forward controls only. It's a big ticket cost to convert to mids. Engine not withstanding, consider that. LR-S is fwd mids, and a much easier conversion to fwds if you decide to go that way. But for the same or close price, why wouldn't you go with the 110? Larger canvas to work with...
Plus I never thought I'd say it, but cruise control is AWESOME!
The newer HDs are in the top ten most reliable motorcycle listing. That should be all the answer you need. I didn't think the 103 would feel much different than the 96 I had in my RK, but even brand new and without a Power Commander, it runs real well and I have no plans to add a PCV. Buy it with confidence, these motors run great. Stay away from synthetic oil in the motor, VTwins get real noisy with it for lubricant.

I don't agree with this statement - at least in my '16 LRS. The LRS comes with Syn3 from the factory, and when I recently installed my UltraCool oil cooler I switched over to Red Line V-Twin. I can say that the motor *seems to be quieter and smoother since. Now maybe that's just my subconscious justification for spending $8/qt, but I've used Red Line for about 25 years and I've always been happy with it.
But nevertheless I don't consider my motor any more noisy then my 103 when it ran dino the first 1000 miles... If anything, its quieter.
I have them both. A 15 Fat Bob and a 16 LRS. For performance and suspension the LR is a world ahead of the Fatty. However the look for me makes the Fat Bob a fine cruiser and the 103 does a good job overall.
Cycle World put the Low Rider S in it's top ten list as the best cruiser for 2016.

I don't like ganging up on anyone but, this went right off the reservation. You may want to rethink your position on synthetic oil... for so many reasons

I rode my friend's '14 street bob with a bassani and it wasn't anything to be impressed with. To be honest my mild build 96" fat bob walks all over it. Then about a week later my other friend got a '16 LR with the 103HO and as a bone stock bike it felt way more impressive. I can also tell you that the LR keeps up quite nicely with some of the modified 96" bikes that we ride with while the SB is usually struggling to keep up. Both guys are very good riders so that's not the limiting factor. Just my two cents....
