look doesnt bother me much i prefer performance and longevity. The Harley tubes are cheaper? How so? Thickness of the steel and quality of the chrome? If so im gonna go with CCE hard chrome as i dont want +2.4.

Not sure you are going to find someone that has actually measured chrome thickness.

I don't know where you are finding 2-4 of showa tubes but I wouldn't have any problem using them as long as they genuine parts. The showa tubes should be high quality as the stock tubes are very good.

Also the CCE tubes are pretty good tho IIRC they weren't quite as good as the stock Showa. IIRC the Showa hard chrome was a little harder/darker than the CCE. The finish on the CCI tubes a little brighter.

I used to own a CMC softail was pretty much like an HD softail std. I went 2 over on the front with a set of Custom Chrome show chromed tubes. They were crap and didn't last more than a few thousand miles before the chrome wore through and I was seeing the copper plating underneath.. I replaced with 4 inch over CCE and they were holding up fine for about the 10000 to 15000 miles after the change. Sold the bike with them on it..

It's been 9 years since I owned that bike so not sure how much weight the observation carries now.. Things change.

I may have misinterpreted your statement, but if not...

The "2.4" is referring to the length difference, Not chrome thickness

...Disregard my statement if N/A and accept my humble apology

Yeah the 2-4 was referring to fork tube length. Sorry if I wasn't clear..

I ordered the CCE in Hard Chrome. I didnt want to go longer than +2" over stock. Hopefully they are as good as the stock Harley. It's my first time having such trouble picking the right decision buying a part, hopefully i took the right path...

I'm aware that Showa makes the forks for HD.. Just wasn't aware that you could get oversized lengths from Showa or HD.

IIRC - If I remember correctly.

Well Fxdwg stock tube length are 27.9" while the fxd tubes are 25.5". That is the only option you got while staying with Harley tubes. I really wanted +2" max thats why i went with CCE. Just hope the product is as good or superior as what Harley has to offer. I had so many contradictory answers on my quest of buying the right product it crack me up...

It's going to work out

Sometimes you pays ya money and takes a chance. I've always been on the edge when it comes to buying parts. It usually works out. Just did the oil filter relocation; the first on a Dyna I do believe

I'd have done the show chrome fork tubes only because I love that gleaming front end but you bought well. CCE makes a great fork tube or I won't be planning on putting their tubes on my Wide Glide.

Be sure you post up images when you get the tubes and get them installed. We love images

I should have gone back and reread the original post. You have a DL and I was thinking you originally had the DWG.. From what I wrote, in my experience The CCEs were fine.. The bike I had already had basically DWG tubes so it wasn't an option for me.. I will say one thing.. Don't get the cheap custom chrome ones..
