Widest tires for 93-01 Wide Glides, without modding?
Anyone know how wide I can go on a 93-01 Wide Glide without making any modifications? Also, without scraping rubber on something? The OEM size is a 130.
RE: Widest tires for 93-01 Wide Glides, without modding?
My friend has a 1998 Wide Glide. He installed a 140 Metzeler 880. The width is fine, but he had problems with the increased diameter... he broke the mounting studs off of 2 taillights before he figured out what was going on. He ended up installing a cateye taillight on the stock bracket and he's not broken any more lights.
When he needs a tire again, he's going back to a 130. The problems he had were not worth the extra pubic hair of width he got from the bigger tire.

I didn't think of a different sized wheel. hmm, looks like i've got some investigation to do. Also, the other comment about the years being slightly different, I thought they were all the same wheel wise in the 93-01 years, I guess that's just the stock oem size that's the same. I'm specifically thinking about this for a 1999 wide glide.
