Default Primary covers 2009 street bob

Just bought a 09 street Bob the primary case is grey I'm looking to change it out. I'm not sure if I can/should change out the entire casing or just the front. Any suggestions or pics of cover changes?

Greetings...welcome...enjoy...ride-on!!!

You can separate the primary casing from motor and have it powdercoated.

Removing the inner primary is a good deal more work than pulling the outer cover. There are some YouTube videos on that so check them out to get some idea what's involved.
I think I've seen some posts here where the inner primary was carefully taped off, prepped and painted.
If you're going to be working on your bike get a factory service manual.

As mentioned above just powder what you have....that's what I just did to my inner and outer. Inner is a lot more work. Among removing the compensator and clutch assembly you have to press out the inner primary bearing that your main shaft rides on. Service manual is a must.

I love it opposed to the gray casting:

Thanks and no I have not take care of the other side. Might do the cam, trans side and top covers in the future.

The Powder Pro isn't to far away from me so I took the inner and outer covers to him and had them back in a week. I don't remember exactly, but it was around $90 for both (if I find the info I will edit post with exact price).

Info from Tim at the Powder Pro on pricing:

"Inner primary $75, outer primary $50"

"We have small engine package, outer primary, cam cover and trans side clutch cover for $100, or large engine package outer primary, derby, cam cover, points, starter, trans top cover, and trans side clutch cover for $150."
