Congrats on the new bags. I'm getting tired of going places & not having anywhere to stuff new toys for the bike if I decide to buy something while I'm away from the house. Trying to decide on what I want now.
Paul, what am I missing here. I've got standard Harley rigid sideplates and I use a Harley rack on every road trip.Just remove the seat, install the rack and replace the seat. It's a little snug at the back of the pillion but so far no damage to the seat.
I'm completely convinced that our seats are cut differently ....think mine has more foam in it or something. I tried aSissy/Rack combothat belongs to abuddy and I had to press the seat downa great deal to get it on. Taking some basic measurements I found my seat to sit 1 full inch higher that the crossbar on the rack. The difference may well be that since you've modded your sideplates it makes it easier for yours to go on.
It's no real biggie though .... I wanted some bags anyway and this was the excuse to get them .
After two weeks of foolin' with this I got the problem solved .... although differently than I thought. I got the Fox Creek bags in .... they were impeccable. But after looking at things, I wasnt real happy with the change inappearance they gave the bike and I needed that $$$ for some other irons I got in the fire right now ... big irons. I did some more looking around and found this ------> http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp...ey&ci=2655
Worked like a charm. Bolted right up ... no seat interference.
