Default Rack/Saddle bags

I am getting a 07 883 Low, and it come with a solo seat. I would like a way to cart around stuff (other than back pack) My question to you guys are do I have to have a two passenger seat to have saddle bags or a lugage rack? (because thats all I can find)

Get yourself some "Easy Brackets", mount some saddlebags (ones you like) to them, and put them on and take them off in 30 seconds whenever you want - after you relocate your rear turn signals...

I dont think you can get the throwover bags because there is a strap that goes under the passenger seat. I think you would need a hard mounted saddle bags.

Actually, my buddy has an '06 and he does have the throwover bags. (Not sure about the '07, but hopefully I can give you some insite in a couple more weeks, tee hee) He did not relocate the turn signals (small bags) and does not have any brackets. He just used wire ties to secure them to the shocks and frame so they don't fall into the wheel. I don't really like the way it looks, but it works for him. Personally I would go with the easy brackets.

You can use throw over bags with a solo but I don't recomend it.Most throw overs have holes in the back of the bags to run leather strings through to tie to the shocks. The reason I don't recomend it is because without the weight of a seat to hold down the yoke between the bags with a soft piece of cloth under it the bags will move around just enough to ruin your paint.Don't ask me how I know this. You'd actually be better off either buying a passenger seat or a rack to bungee stuff to.

Mind you, I don't ride with this configuration, but they have those fender "bras" you can put behind a solo seat to protect the fender from things like a saddlebag yoke. I think those are set up to be screwed down with the 2nd seat screw, so would that possibly work?

All that aside, I have at least seen this rack off the Harley accessories site:

It doesn't look that big, and I have no idea what you would want to cart around so I'm not sure if it would fit the bill or not.

My O5 883C has some Willie and Max throwover saddlebags attached under the solo seat and rear fender bra. Have had no problems at all with this setup but I would like to mount them solidly and get rid of the fender straps mainly just because of looks.

I tried some hard saddlebags but didn't like the look on my Sporty. I also tried the easy brackets but they didn't fit my rigid HD bags ...even worse they make the bags stand out another 6 inches..plain fugly from any view in my opinion.

I ended up going with a motherwell luggage rack which looks great in my opinion and I when want to store light gear, a camera or make a run to the grocery store I am currently using a oversized military toolbag which fits the look of my Sporty.

I would like to devise a throw over saddlebag solution as well for longer trips but I need a (Mustang) rear bib before I could go that route to keep from scratching the rear fender.

I am also looking for a good roll bag that I can strap on the motherwell when needed but it needs to be easy on/off to keep the bike clean when just riding around town. I'll post on the forum if I find a good one at a decent price.

You know I wanted the same thing ... but it just wasnt feasible. I had to do something that would allow me to carry my junk to work, clothes, laptop, lunch, rain gear etc ... but didnt want to have to leave anything "atthached" to the bike on those get away rides.

I added a detachable luggage rack and the bag / box at this location.

Works good for work .... works good for not work. Takes about two seconds to detach the box and another three to detach the rack.

Well constructed and pretty Cheeep too !!
