Default Lady Riders

Hello, I currently have a 2014 HD sportster 48 candy paint and have been riding now for about 2 years. So I am still a green pea, but feel the need to move up into the dyna series. I am tired of always having to refuel and the rugged ride on the bike. I am nervous about this bc I am 5'3 130lbs and have looked at few. I worry about not being flat footed, the added weight, and backing up. Can anyone share any experiences moving up? Thanks in advance.

Sure!
My GF is 5'4" with 28.4 inseam. She rides her FXDL very well, using Daytona Women's boots (from Revzilla), RSD adjustable levers, and regular seat. The weight diff between your sport and an FXDL is probably 50 pounds.
I also installed a "Burley Boy" EZ clutch pull device. This really made a huge difference in clutch pull force needed.

With the 5 gallon fuel tank, you can expect a reasonable fuel range of 200 miles. More if you're just going 55mph on the freeway, less if you are railing in the mountain twistys.

Go try all the Dyna's and see which one's speak to you.

CVARIA regularly rides both a Sportster and a Dyna Wide Glide. Tho he'd come from a male's perspective, I imagine he would have some excellent comparative experience and words of encouragement/advice.

I see plenty of female riders on both touring and softail frames around here so I have no doubt you can find a way to make it work for you. There really aren't any other Dynas around here, so that's not a reflection on female dyna riders.

It may cost a few hundred dollars, but if you are near a Harley dealership which also has a rental department, you might try a 24 hour rental to see if your chosen model works for you.

You should be fine. A seat change and some decent boots should get your feet flat. The stock pipe weights a ton so swapping that out you'll notice. A girl I knew that had a sporty had to wear a mouth piece to keep her teeth from shattering. Lol

Wink

You can get a lowering kit for the dyna and get a low profile seat so you can reach the pavement. It is a bit heavier but nothing you cant handle. It will just make you stronger

Since the center of gravity is relatively low, you'll probably only feel the weight difference moving the bike around in the garage/driveway. Both riding and sitting still should pretty much be a non-issue.
