Beautiful FXDC you have there GeeRam. You guys are blessed with someexcellentback roads in the UK.I livejustoutside of Newquay, Cornwall for2 yearsand the roads there were awesome. It seemedlike all theroads therewere nothing but curves linked together.Ihave a hard time recalling a section of road thatwas straight for more then a mileor so.
BTW, I was thinking about a Buell for my wife a few months back. I called the dealer to see if they had any '06s left over. "Yes, we have several, we even have an '05 we can make you a SWEET deal on!!" It ended up being MSRP on a 3yr old bike!!! Sorry, I like Harleys, but come on... Used will do me just fine
I see you guys points. I guess the bottom line is how bad the buyer wants it and how bad the seller wants to sell it. Like i said.i would have bought one last year but the stealers were asking over msrp.
What is amazing is these dealers have a chit load of used bikes in the showroom. and they are about the same price as a new one . i do not get it. how can they just sit on all those used bikes ?
As riding season kicks into full gear, the dealers aren't going to budge as much. I think that's why it's better to haggle in December-February when they might only be selling a handful of bikes a month and now they're selling a handful of bikes a DAY. If they don't sell the bike to you at whatever price they're asking, they'll sell it to someone else soon enough. It is just a paint job, but it is pretty sweet. Just keep shopping. Check out www.hdtrader.com . You might find something at a better price out there or at least it will give you an idea of what to offer as you continue to shop.
Maybe I madea bigger deal out of buying a bike than most, but I window shopped for about 3 months last year and then hit 7 different dealers in February and March this year before settling on the bike I got....I shouldn't even say settle. I KNEW when I walked in the dealer that I wanted an 07 Black Pearl Low Rider with laced wheels. No regrets, no second thoughts and absolutely no complaints.
kowboy dont cave in to that dealer! give him your number and have him call you when he wants to talk the price you gave him.Id tell him hes got 1 wk to make up his mind on it before you will buy elsewhere. Then do buy elsewhere if no call
Thanks for theadvice guys. You (well, I)get kind of caught up in the process and it's good to take a step back and take a deepbreath. There really is no rush. I could wait til this fall/winter and look for a deal on an '07. Considering how many are stillleft I'm sure there will stillbe alot left to choose from.Actually today I rodemy RC-51 for the first time this spring, I forgothow much fun it was, lol.
Well I seethat that dealership is still sitting on their '06 FXDI35 while the odometer on my '07FXDB just rolled over 1,100 miles. I picked up my new Street Bob back in June and I'm completely happy with her. She just had her 1,000 mile service done andthe money I saved (that's how I'm rationalizing it, lol)I was able to spring for a Thundermax w/auto tune, a V&H bigshot staggered exhaust system, and an Arlen Ness Big Sucker. I was planning on waiting til my nextservice& oil change to get these parts installed but I don't think I'll be able to wait that long.

I'm near where you were ... in Dorset ... the roads are just made for riding round here ... it is great ... only better place i've live is home ... New Zealand, there they camber all the corners, used to be able to drive at 50 in an old car, before power steering, and the car would drive itself around most corners. Been here in blighty for 20 years now but still miss those rides.
Its 1500 on a Friday and no work emails ... i'm heading out riding !
Suggest to the dealer he trow in some accesories at the price he wants. Typically the dealer makes more money on that stuff and it becomes a better bargaining point. Unfortunately it usually comes down to the dealer not seeing the big picture. If he sells the bike now, he has a customer to SELL accessories, parts, clothing, and service to. Just my 2 cents.
