OK, first let me say thanks to all those on here for the knowledge that they share with others, I have been able to find out alot of things from you guys, and now I have a stupid question for you. I love the way my FXDC rides when I am alone, but the second I add more weight (my wife) I get a pretty crappy ride, we feel every crack, hole, bump, rock, etc. I know I can adjust the OEM rear shocks to help with this, but I am a dork and dont have a clue what a "spanner wrench" is. Also the service manual states that there is 5 positions, how do you know what they are?? as far as I can tell there is no markings on the shocks.
Also while I have your attention, I have seen all you guys talking about the progressive shocks, I have looked on "easternperformance.com" and can not seem to locate a set that they list as fitting the 07's, andone have an 07 FXDC that they put these on? Do you happen to know which ones you used?

Look direct on the Progressive website for the 07 stuff.
You can adjust the preload without a spanner, put gloves on and twist, indicator arrow is at bottom of shock on rear side, make sure they are both the same. Having said that I chucked stock rear shocks in favor of progressive #440-440c's and proggressive front springs #11-1525. I'm a big guy 6'3' 240lb. and it made a huge difference in my bike, no more front diving when braking hard, way more supple ride, tracks better, and just flat out handles better.
Yep, '07.I bought at Phat Performance, pretty good deal, they have a special on them right now. They originally sent 412's (ordered 440's)by mistake, called 'em up and told them about the error, they had the correct ones fed exed overnight delivery. Installed 2 days later, awesome.Nice customer service solution!
The service manual and many people have said if you take one shock off at a time you don't need to jack up the bike, it worked for left side, I had to jack up the bike to get right one on, no big any way took 20 mins. total.
12 1/2 " is stock size, I went with 12", but they look a lot squatter anda lot heftier than stock shocks, and they bike seems to sit about an inch lower not 1/2". The finish quality is also much higher than stock shocks. Not to mention the ride quality!
Adjusted the shocks today after visiting the dealer to buy the spanner wrench. One of the techs showed me how to do it. I'm so glad I have a dealer that actually cares!!! Well it turns out that mine were set on the first setting!!!!! No wonder i was hurting! Well I changed it to 4 and it rides much nicer, going to try out 3 later on today and see how it is, then just gotta add the wife so i can figure out a good setting for the 2 of us.
