Default Question

I recently purchased a 2016 Street Bob and plan on installing new exhaust, air filter, and tuner. I'll be doing the work myself. Should I wait until after the 1,000 mile "break-in" before doing the work? I'd rather not wait if it doesn't matter. Thanks for the input!

Do it sooner than later, then you can find a better one that you wish you would have bought.

Get ready to catch some flak from your dealer.

I bought mine the day before I bought my bike, rode 8 miles from dealer to home and installed em right then and there. Then I rode and enjoyed my new bike

In days past the dealer would do the Stage 1 for you before you even rode it off of their parking lot if you wanted them to; don't worry about the dealer, worrying about that 'warranty' on an HD is like believing in Santa Clause or that Social Security will be there when you get ready to retire. Sure, it looks great on paper, but in reality? Not so much. It's your bike; make it yours

Edited to add: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm OP, the majority of the 'break in' happened in the first hour

mixed feelings, on one hand I think that I would get the first 100 mile on it , just to make sure everything is "right" on the bike, and you arnt going to have any major issues on a new motor , and not give the dealer any ammo to mess with you on the warrenty, howeer I think that there could be some benefits to having the bike tuned and running it best when breaking in . Since I tend to ride mine pretty easy ( not babied , just a little easy)the first 1000 , I would get a few miles on it myself, but thats only a couple 2 or 3 days of riding when the weather cooperates.
