Default Going to try and Cerakote Dyna fork tubes

So we are going to try and cerokote the the fork tubes on a dyna (instead of DLC)

My question to you all is what the hell is this yellow plastic ring?!?! At first glace it seems like it doesn't seal anything and maybe allows the fork oil to flow through? Again, I don't know. I seems like it can be removed with some force, but we haven't touched. The damn thing isn't even listed in the parts catalog

http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche....ORK%20ASSEMBLY

So i decided to turn to you gents in hopes of figuring this out.

if we bake it and it melts can we even get a replacement?
Can it even be removed with a tool or something?

im including pics because visuals are always great!!! Going to try and Cerakote Dyna fork tubes-img_2810.jpg

Looks like a plastic bushing to keep the fork tube from rattling around the damper rod.

I have my doubts that the fork seals will last long or seal at all with the tubes cerakoted. That stuff has more in common with power coat then dlc. I don't think they can get it smooth or slick enough to work. I am interested to see if it work though.

That's part of the Fork tube check valve, it's not coming out (if it does, it's not going back)

During the manufacturing of the Tube, the check valve assy is inserted and then the edge is rolled over (arrow)

I would try Duracoat. You don't have to bake it. I want to try it on my wife's forks and my wheels.
