Default Who knows about Fab work??

Trying to bend some 9/16 cold rolled round, for a sissy bar.
My propane torch just isn't hot enough what do I need acetalyne ? or will MAPP gas work? Need some tight bends. help!!

oxy-acetylene w/ a rose bud will get 'er hot. Thats what I used to bend my apes.

waytwo, oxy/cetylene, no doubt about it.

9/16 is a pretty bold #.

I used 1/2" 304 stainless for my ccbar and is was a mortarforker to bend.
Cold rolled should be a piece of cake, comparatively.

Rosebud is fast, cutting tip is more than sufficient though.

Don't heat too much.
If you see particles launching off your stock, back down a little.

Here's some pix of my 1/2" ss 304 with a tight bend.

You can heat it up enough with MAPP. Oxy/Actyl will be much easier. Cold roll will heat and bend easy. Go slow and if you see sparks your to hot.

I looked at MAPP at the W-mart, wasn't sure and bought propane instead (just not hot enough, just my luck)

A buddy of mine has an Oxy set up so we'll be drinkin' some beers and bendin' some steel this weekend!
