IF you are not having clutch issues just leave it in there. Your compensator can make good use of it.

Default Excess fluid
just changed the fluid in my 86 softail primary and put 28oz and would no longer shift into neutral. After removing enough fluid to get the height just to touch the bottom of the clutch pack. Shifts great again
