Thinking about changing up my 2006 FXDL with a FL style rear fender. Is the switchback a bolt on or is it too wide? If so any suggestions for alternatives? Thanks.
The Switchback rear fender will bolt right up. I have one on my 06 FXDL. I also bought all the stock mounting hardware because I wanted it to be installed as designed. The only thing you will have problems with is the 06 brake light because it won't sit flush to the fender. I solved that by using some closed cell weather stripping around the base of the light housing. The turn signals are from a Street Glide and I scored those on eBay. Just swap the wiring and lenses from your old turn signals into it.
The Switchback front fender is too wide though. Your FXDL has mid glide trees and the Switchback is a wide glide, which is an inch wider. I have an eBay 6" Jesse James Tombstone fender on my 06 FXDL that I'm pretty happy with.
