I am on my 2nd dyna. 2008 Superglide custom, now a 17 Wide Glide. I have no idea about poor handling, or handling issues what so ever. When i sold my superglide I put forward controls. I ground about 1inch off both pegs dragging them in many turns. (I am a sportnuke guy who spends way too much time on race tracks) I never once felt like there was an issue or even lack of feedback from the tires for reaching the grip limits of the tires..
I moved up from a 2016 sportster 48 to a 2017 Low Rider S. I'm glad I started on a sportster but the Low Rider will def make you not regret you decision to move up.
Compensator - upgrade to baker no bfd, hard as hell to start, it might take a couple more revolutions when hot ( especially with stock early intake close cam) I would not say hard as hell , the 103 have compression releases no bfd, tensioner are improved over the old spring loaded ones that u had to check at 15k now u go 50k they are hydraulic, not bullet proof but better no bfd, are u thinking low rider s, I hear they handle excellent also heard last year for them

I use to have a 2003 883 fun bike , I got it from a friend and I remember asking him about the waving to other bikers when out riding and he told me ( the big bikes don't wave to the little bikes) lol!!!! Sometimes on the Fxr the big bikes don't wave till the last second I guess they are thinking sporty but realize holy grail Fxr!!
Platform , that is how I look at it also, more power , better suspension, I have no regrets dumping cash into my bike, I would not have it any other way. But they do alright stock, a buddy of mine has a 2010 fat boy stage one that's it , leave it alone and they run forever he says, to each his own !
