Thanks for all the help. I hate to say it buy leaning towards the Street Glide. I know the money is a lot more but think in the long run it will be worth it. Ohhhh to be single again and buy the Bob. [8D] Was quoted today $1500 to have the Glide painted black denim....hmmmmmm
After owning a Bob for a year, I say niether.Yes the Old Lady will be much happier on the Street Glide but for ALOT less money you could get an Electra glide standard which would be even more comfortable with the stock seat. They're both nice baggers but the Street Glide is basically a stripped Electraglide with a fancy paint job and a higher pricetag.I say get the standard take what you want off of it, add what you want to it and you'll still probably come out ahead.
If youwant the Bobster, but your wife wants the comfort of the Steet glide, you hate backrests, ( even detachable cause ofthe permanent hardware) but your wife wants the comfort of the street glide, you spend morethan 50% of you time solo, but your wife wants the comfort of the street glide, you want the coolest bike, but your wife wants the comfort of the streetglide ...Go with the Bobster, with detachablewindshield and Corbin dual touring seat.
You'll spend an additional $3.5Kon the Street Glide vs. $2K forBob'sCorbinseat/window/ passenger pegs, having the flexibility to convert from Solo Hot Rod to Super Confortable Seat 2 up Bike in 5minutes.
I'll post my Before and after pics in a couple of days. And NO I dont' work for Corbin.
I have a Street Glide and a couple of Dynas. There is no way in hell my little bride is getting on the Dynas. If you had to have one bike, it really should be a Street Glide, or really the advice about the Standard is pretty good too. If you like being married and you want your wife aboard on this, and you like the idea of her riding with you, get the Street Glide. Your chances of getting the Dyna down the road are far better when you honor the wishes of the chief financial officer of the corporation first, plus we all know she is the chief after hours entertainment director.
Hey , you have half the battle won, she is in agreement to a new Harley! Whatever you get,you are bound to have more fun han a barrel of monkeys Hope to see you on the road sometimes.
i say go with the streetbob, then convert it to a touring bike when you need to. here is a pick to the conversion, all detachable(backrest, tourpak, windshield stereo system).then you can take the cash you save from buying the streetglide and buy your oldlady a sportster also. jackyl
