Welcome from the land of tulips and windmills, and yes you are in the Dyna section. The 2.5 qts. is a good solid answer. After a ride wait a couple of minutes and bring the oil up to about 1/4 inch from full, you'll be good to go.

Why not just answering the question instead of "search function" this and "manual" that?

I agree! Never understood guys getting upset because someone asks an oil question. It took longer to write their response than it would have to just kindly answer his question. SMH

There is an indy shop that I buy my oil at sometimes that thinks I'm crazy because I only ever buy 2 quarts when I do an oil change. The guy argues with me almost every time.

I use the Scavenger on mine when I change the oil. It screws on in place of the oil filter and has a dump hose that lets you put it down into the catch container and fire the engine up to get all the remaining old oil out of the system. It usually runs about a 1.2 quart out before the clean oil exits the tube. My oil stays clean for almost 1500 miles. This is not a commercial but folks are changing their oil not by mileage but how it looks on the dipstick and that's wasteful because you still have some dirty oil in the system that you cannot get out unless you somehow let the new clean oil circulate all the way thru the system pushing out the old oil. I don't care what any owner's manual says...I always go by the dipstick reading both hot and cold. Take care.

In no particular order

Service manual..., for an owner's specific bike - in a damn invaluable tool and resource

Give a man a fish..., or teach him to fish

Fact - some topics get beat F'n to death - oil being one of them

Be brief..., Be good..., Be gone - Old Enuf was

eta:

Another fact..., every motor is a little bit different - 2Q..., or 2.5Q..., or whatever QT - may not be the right answer for the OP - there's a point where it full..., and not puking out

Only time and testing determines exactly where / what that level is..., and exactly how much oil it takes to get there
