Are you talking about the rubber fork boots need to go? The actual fork sliders a kind of important cant really just get rid of them.. I think you may just have the nut under the upper triple tree a hair too loose. Same thing happened to me when I put my front end back together after powdercoat.
He's talking about the metal sleeves over his upper fork tubes between the triple trees.
I'm about to break character here. A lot of work and No play. Didn't grab very many pictures of the process like usual. Got a much needed LED headlight, and mounted a light bar after I put some light tint over the lense. The white and chrome reflector was too much, also the light bar isnt wired yet. Got an engine guard and leg lowers installed. All you mother ****ers that said it requires little trimming are either lying or yours looks like ****. Took me 3 days of cutting and sanding and filing to get everything just right. They are gloss black but need re painted. I'm going to powdercoat the crash bar aswell. Big things happening, ordering a custom fairing hopefully this week after I get some samples of the material in the mail. Lots of work to be done. Still need to do lots and lots of wiring and drilling and fabricating. Not hard to do but time consuming when done right. More pictures to follow.
Extremely happy how the lowers turned out. Bike looks bad ***. Better than any fxrt lowers that's for sure.
Give us some more shots and details on how/what you did with the lower fairings.
As for the bags, I wonder if those mounts could be trimmed down to allow the detach sissy bar system to be installed rather then pushing the bags out another 3/4"-1" away from the bike.

I may be going with a t sport fairing instead of an fxrt fairing. Going with the t sport will allow me to get cams and get an ohlins front suspension setup. I think going with a custom t sport fairing will make for a better all around bike.
I did the t sport fairing instead of the fxrt and it was a hard decision for me. Kept going back and forth but ultimately decided I liked the slim profile of my bike and went with a t sport fairing to keep if that way. Part of me still would like to have the fxrt and lowers but that's probably the part of me that missed my road glide.
Is someone making you a custom t-sport fairing or are you modifying one of the re-pops out there?

Didn't see that picture. But yes I believe people have done that. I know alot of people don't use the Viking bag hardware and just make their own mounts. My sissy bar is permanent obviously so I don't have to mess with that but I'm sure it can be done.
