I had a similar concern with my '03 Wide Glide (was going to use chrome lowers and wanted a fork brace). Basically, what I was told is the inner diameter was different between the standard lowers and the chrome ones (standard being larger in diameter), so I looked into having the inner diameter of the brace (assembled and torqued) machined to fit the chrome sliders. I didn't do it though (sold the bike instead). That may be an option, if you can find a competent machinist. Just because the Moco or aftermarket doesn't make it, doesn't mean you can't find a way to make it work.
If the HD chrome sliders are made from original equipment sliders as they claim in the catalog, then why would the braces not fit? Is it possible that the seal covers are different on the chrome sliders, and could you use the stock seal covers with the chrome sliders to get the fork braces to fit?
The chrome sliders covers don't look anything like the originals, so that's the problem. The braces are so finite in measurement that their opening is too small for the chrome covers. HD says they can "mill" the braces, but it chips the chrome, so I'm not good with that. I'll wait for a better answer.
The seal covers that come with the chrome lowers do look different than the stock ones, but the stock covers on my '03 FXD are chrome and look fine. Does anyone know if I could use them on the chrome lowers and then would I be able to fit the fork brace?
Good question. I have my originals in a box in the garage. I'll get them out and see is I can use the original covers on the chrome sliders. The brace attaches to the covers, so if yours works with the chrome sliders than you won't have any problem.
