Default Cam suggestions

So I got a 2009 street bob 1584cc I got a big suckered air cleaner and bassani rr2. I usually ride solo and ride pretty aggressive, mostly back roads with some highway trips here and there, usually traveling light.

im looking to upgrade my engine I'm told cams is the next step. Looking for some suggestions, I want to add power to my take off but also add more range to my gears.

I'm a green horn when it comes to this but any suggestions on what the hell to do next would be helpful

I suggest you start here with educating yourself on how to choose a cam. There are other cam suppliers out there. You're going to get so many guys telling you what they like, so be prepared. By the way what oil are you using. LOL. Good Luck.

Definitely read up on all the threads on cams. Everybody's preference is different so it's hard to suggest a specific cam for you. I have the se 259e cams in my 117 lrs. They were part of the 117 kit but I absolutely love it. Another thing to consider would be tuning. I have a power vision and that's the only tuner I'm really educated on, but I think it's one of the best. If you're going to get a new tuner, definitely buy it from fuel moto. They have a lot more/better tunes. I bought my pv from the HD dealer and pv doesn't have a tune for my setup. I ran autotune, but it's still not good enough. Can't go wrong with a dyno tune, but you want a good reputable tuner.

If you go with a cam with longer duration, you might look at a compression bump.

For a 96" engine I would use a Andrews TW48H. Lots of power from 2000 rpm to about 4500 rpm. I did a 103 kit and have Andrews TW57H cams.

good point. And if you do, you might as well do a big bore kit or head work or both while you're there
