Default sissy bar and license bracket questions

Id like to get a sissy bar, but the quick disconnects at the dealer wont work without relocating the license plate bracket. While I will probably end up getting a rigid sissy bar, I was wondering what are people using or doing to relocate the license plate? I would rather have it on the rear fender. Also what sissy bars are you using?

I was in the same boat as you.

Having seen some pretty cool ones for sale online I just decided to make my own. Keep in mind that mine is still a prototype and I'm revising it to suit my preferences.

^there is a cad model of it. I didnt spend too much time on this as i knew i just wanted to test fit and see what i wanted to change.

^There it is mounted. This "prototype" part is just 3d printed, but the finished project will be made of sheet metal. It really isnt hard to make one. You can find your plate dimensions per state online, then it is just a matter of deciding where you want to mount it and figuring out the details.

If you do not have the means to make one then i would suggest checking out this link.

They have something that should work for you if you dont feel like messing with it.

I used the HD rear fender relocation kit but kept my turns original. I got my sissy bar from slim fab farm customs, the El Hefe kinky bar. I did need to get a couple signal mount bolts that were a little longer to fit the extra width the sissy bar and plate kit created. It was mainly because the plate relocation kit mounts inside the fender.

Edit, here's my install thread, you can see the HD plate kit as well. It's a bit ugly but not as bad as the way it stuck way out in the stock location on the street bobs.

They mentioned that fender relocation kit at the dealer, and now im glad I didnt get it. Biltwell makes a bracket im thinking I should just buy and weld on to a sissy bar like the one you got. here is the link

My only question would be it if fits at that point, and how low could I put it

Yeah I don't get how they came out with such an eye sore of a plate kit. All they had to do was put the light on the bottom and get rid of the gap. It was free though and better than the stock street bob location but yeah not great by any means.

My sissy bar is made by Top Hand Ventures (https://www.tophandventures.com/). Unlike the Harley setup, it isn't quick release and you don't need to buy extra hardware to use it. Mounts in between the fender and fender struts, feels solid, and you can use the Harley backrest pad on it.

Me and the wife like it a lot!
