Engine Won't Start When Hot - 2007 FXDC Super Glide Custom
My 2007 FXDC Super Glide Custom starts right up when it's cold - say after sitting all night in my garage. I then can ride it any number of miles and it runs perfectly. However, if I shut off the engine after it's hot - say to go to 7-11 for coffee or to get gas, the engine will crank strongly, but it won't start. I have to let the bike sit for about 15-20 minutes, then it will start right up and run perfectly - until the next shut off - then the crank-no start - have to wait 15-20 minutes routine starts all over again. This happens all the time - it's not sporadic. The strong crank but no-start after getting hot and being shut off indicates something, but I have no idea what.
The battery is only 3 months old and cranks the bike very strong. The system relay, starter relay, 40amp maxi-fuse and crank position sensor are all new. There is nothing loose. I've checked every ground on the bike, including the main grounds under the seat - and everything is tight and clean. I have a Fuel-Pak that was installed new in 2007 when I got the bike and did the "stage 1." Other than that, there are no mods to the engine. The motorcycle has 40,500 miles on it.
I just checked for any codes that the bike may have thrown. There are none.
Does anyone have a suggestion? What does the crank, no-start when hot indicate?
My wideglide does this as well, a thread some time ago suggested that when the engine is hot turn the ignition on and hit the starter immediately without letting the engine finish priming - it works for me.

Hey Richard,
Try to increase your cranking fuel at high temperatures. When the engine is hot, there is no wall film as it is evaporated. That's where the fuel goes to and this needs to be compensated. Your fuel pack should be able to handle this.
Last summer when I got my 07 SB I had the same issue when it was hot. Only cure I found was to hit "RUN" and immediately hit the starter. Seems to be an issue when the fuel pump primes(V&H tune plus an issue with the injector??).
However, I have since upgraded to a PV I have had zero issues.
