odd hot engine starts
like when you shut it off, get gas, and fire it back up.
Not every time, but every so often now you really have to crank it for awhile, and it backfires sometimes, then starts.
I'm thinking plugs.
Am I right?

it's carbed. Does have a stage 1 jet kit though.
It's ran fine for 5k so far, so that's why I'm thinkin it's prob something dumb.

If you're runnung Xied, PC3 or PCV, it's a common problem. All you have to do is hit the starter right away after the ignition is turned on. Don't wait for the engine light to go out or the fuel pump to stop pumping, and it will start right up. It's getting too much prime.
In your case I'd be looking at the plugs. Change them both out (they're cheep). You can have a bad plug and it will look fine.

Unless you are having a problem with plugs fouling out, stay with the stock plugs, they are all you need, and you can't beat the price. If you are having problems with fouling plugs you might want to consider one of the fine wire Iridium plugs.
