Hi all. Just picked up my first Harley a few days ago. Rode it home for a three hour ride, and find the stock seat a little hard on my old ***.
Took the wife and mother out for a ride today, and they both found the seat too hard as well.
So I'm looking for recommendations please and thanks. What would be beneficial as well if the recommended seat pushes the pilot closer to the tank. I find the controls a bit of a stretch to reach, and not a chance I can get my short legs to meet the highway pegs.
Every rear-end has a different preference for a seat; that said why not try a custom seat? Terry Adcox who owns Terry's Custom Seats has built two seats for me and will likely have another this year. He does first class work designed just for you for less than the cost of an off the shelf "custom" seat designed for no one.

Haha you said hard on....sorry ahem, anyway I prefer the oem Fxdb solo seat to anything but if you want to ride two up if suggest mustang or Corbin but there are plenty of choices out there.
I insist on a driver backrest, Corbin is one of the few, and they make good seats. Yes they are proud of them. You speak of having trouble reaching the controls, backrest would help.
Congrats on the new Fat Bob, I just picked up one Saturday! Mine came with the huge one piece F&R HD seat with the driver backrest option, it's pretty nice. Rode home 215mi and felt like I could keep going, which would've never happened on my Raider seat. I think it's about $560+ backrest? Check the HD site, good luck
You can demo the sundowner seat at the local harley shop. Its more comfortable than some touring bike seats. They make reduced reach kits for forwards or you can opt for floor boards. I bought wider pegs from kuryakyn and heel pegs but boots help too.
