Default Seat Bolt Gone!

So, has this happened to anyone else? I was out on the bike yesterday and when we stopped for a coffee, I noticed my screw, bolt and retaining washer for the seat was gone! How the hell does that happen?? But, i did notice on the ride there, something was up with the seat, as the *** end kept shifting, and now I know why. Ended up putting a piece of a stick in the hole to keep the seat from moving around! Not too snug though to bend the opening for the bolt.
So, off to the dealer today to get the parts and put it back together, but I've already done some reading, and this has happened to others before. So, some say to epoxy the bolt to the inside of the fender or JB weld it and others say to do do that to the retaining washer when you clip back in to the fender/bolt with JB Weld.
Anyone done this and which would be the better way to secure it more permanently? JB Welding the retaining washer to the fender once the bolt is there, sounds easier than removing the fender to do that from the inside with the bolt. But I also don't want this to happen again....

I,lost the bolt clip when changing out my seat and had to buy another Bolt and the clip that comes with it. I did not use any epoxy to permanently keep it there.

Default Seat Bolt

If you have a jack to raise the rear end of the bike, it is a lot easier to install the new nut. I would NOT epoxy or JB weld the nut to the bike. Let's just say for grins, you accidently strip it. Now what ?
The nut comes with a little circle clip that works extremely well when properly installed.
BTW You don't have to remove the fender to replace the nut.

Seat bolt smealt bolt, that's what I always say!

I use an allen-head bolt and have to get my hand between the fender and the tire with pliers to hold onto the nut thing or else it spins when you tighten or loosen.
OEM nut thing that is in there, plastic part or something.

Bummer, sounds like a good time for a thumb screw bolt instead of the phillips that come stock. I throw those things away first thing.

They are dirt cheap I wouldn't bother, just check your seat screw with your fingers every couple wks.

You don't need a Jack to re install. Put a long zip tie through the nut, pass the zip tie up around the tire and find the hole. Pull it through, put on the clip.

This is what I was going to suggest, super easy.
Whenever washing my bike or doing safety checks before riding, I just make sure it's tight. I would not put locktite or anything like that. And be sure not to over tighten.
