Default Leave it alone or more power?

17 lrs w/se 117 kit (259e cams), fatcat, heavy breather, power vision. I love it, I ride it like I stole it whenever traffic allows, lot of solo highway riding 90-110 mph, WANT IT TO STAY RELIABLE within reason. Bottom end is stock, no mods other than what's listed and included in the 117 kit.

Starting to to consider switching to jims 120 cyl/pistons, or a different cam. Prefer to stick with HD, but that's lookin pretty tough. I'd prefer my power band to be where it is now, or between 2500-5500 rpm.

I don't want to have the case bored or the crank welded/balanced.

I saw a guy on a 120 Dyna leave the HD dealer yesterday like he robbed it, and it gave me the itch. My bike is fast, but that thing looked/sounded like it would blow it away effortlessly. Any suggestions are appreciated. Should I quit while I'm ahead, or go for it?

theres quite a few of you I'd like to hear from. Thanks.

You only live once.

God hates a coward

No guts, no glory.

Does that answer your question?

Since you're asking for opinions

You've got a nice setup already; I'd focus on handling and braking. All that power is fun, and it's even more fun when you can actually use it. I'd upgrade the suspension, brakes, engine mounts; I'd go for the maximum in stability and all the handling I could get....

might want to ask a reputable builder on the next upgrade. there's many options. port the heads and get the intake port matched, turbo it, mill the heads and run race gas, more cubes...

What's it make for power now? 117 is plenty of cubes when setup right, that's just an unimpressive package from hd.

I'd prefer to stay away from forced induction and I considered head work but am reluctant cause I keep hearing of people who have had catostrophic failure with head work done. Right now it's at 105/120 hp/tq on pv autotune. I plan on hittin the dyno once I make a decision.

As far as tin cups suggestions, I have absolutely no complaints with the factory brakes or suspension but I have never ridden a bike with modified brakes either, so I'm still open to that idea. But I'm not just lookin for a reason to spend money, I'm just interested in a little more power. Maybe I should look at different cams. Just something about that 120 man it was ****in insane.

i I disagree with the unimpressive part...I love it, just don't wanna have it dyno tuned and regret not goin further. Out of curiousity, what would you consider set up right?

There's plenty of potential there in what you have. Don't know why you're hesitant on head work. Ported heads matched to the right cams is where the power is.

If you're really going to ride it hard though- and if you're not then what's the point- I'd seriously consider Darkhorse crankwork. Break out the checkbook.

You have very good cam for your setup now,

if wanting a really different cam you would have to go up to the next lift and get heads milled, springs changed etc, so the 625 range of cams
