Thumbs up https://www.harley-davidson.com/store/sae-2-pin-to-usb-adapter

My iPhone ran out of juice on a ride this weekend. Trying to come up with a good solution for USB. I bought a Harley Davidson USB adapter. Apparently it only draws power when a USB device is connected:

SAE 2-Pin to USB Adapter
https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...to-usb-adapter

For mounting, it appears I have two choices:
  1. Attach it to the left side of the bike; directly to the SAE 2-Pin adapter.
  2. Attach it directly to the battery posts; using left over wires from my Battery Tender

Or should I instead wire an Auxiliary Power Port...would probably attach to handlebars since I don't have saddle bags (yet):

Saddlebag-Mount Auxiliary Power Port
https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...ary-power-port

For now I'll drop a Lighting Power Bank into my tool bag that sits behind my Harley Davidson Quarter Fairing.

Looking forward to any advice.

Thanks,
Don

Do yourself a favor and get a little powerbank that fits in your pocket, they are tiny, do not take power from your battery, because if it goes to low, your ride will not start.

The hd usb charger is fine but it is sorta crappy. I killed one and ooted not to do another.

went with the battery tender usb instead:
Amazon Amazon

and added one of these for flexibility in placement:

I paid $4 for a little charger that will fit in my pocket. It will charge my phone twice.

I like the idea of having the charging port inside the saddlebags, since it's out of sight, but think it would need a longer cable to reach the handlebars that way. I also had one on a prior bike in the windshield bag, wired straight to the battery, and didn't have trouble with the battery dying from it. I think I'll install a cigarette lighter port I had gotten for my wife's bike on the handlebars on my new bike, since she's told me she doesn't need it.

Thanks for the responses. I have a power bank that I put into the handlebar mounted toolbar bag, for the next ride, although it seems like duct tape.

Would rather have a solid solution. My iPhone never leaves my side. So no chance my battery will get drained. Since it'll never be left connected to the bike, unless I'm riding it.

I use a Battery Tender when the bike is parked in my garage, so I think the drainage concern isn't an issue in my case.

I use one of these when on a trip, which is the only time I need to charge my phone on the bike:

Amazon Amazon

I run a 5 foot USB cable from the tender pigtail up under my seat and under the tank console. I can tuck it under the tank from the front and it stays invisible when not being used, and there's enough slack to reach a handlebar mount when needed.

Same here, I just run mine to the right saddlebag
