On both videos, to me it has a "snapping" sound and since you are moving at virtually 0 rpm, then it seems there some quick movement of something somewhere...it "snaps"

That was my assessment as well. I'm thinking the lifter shifting fore/aft in the bore, but I really do hope I'm wrong.
If it it was, I think you should be able to see/"feel" evidence of that from above now with the lifter cover off. Put your finger at the seam of the lifter bore and the side of the lifter as you move it
Really where ever you have suspicions...use your fingers between joint lines...if you can...be careful. You can "feel" smaller movements than you can see, but it sounds easier than done

Yes, makes sense. I'll check everything carefully in the morning. I think I may actually have another fresh set of "upgraded" inner bearings too...
Since I'll probably be solo tomorrow, can anyone think of a reason it wouldn't be safe for me to run the starter for a few seconds with the cam cover off, while I watch/feel the lifter in question?
I've spent way too much time in emergency rooms getting stitches and such to weigh in on safe work practices! Three trips just to remove metal from my eyeballs.
That said...I'd do it...

Ah! Well, other than low/no oil pressure, I can't imagine much more damage being caused from a few revs. Whatever it is, it's been hammering away in there for many thousand revs already.
