Default headlight grounding

I have an 05 super glide and the head light to frame ground wire came off. I don't remember exactly where it was connected and I'm not real sure it's necessary. Any advise ?

I thought this wasn't necessary either. Just did a whole front end swap from fat bob to a set of superglide mid trees. I never installed the ground cable. My brake hose heated up to where I couldn't hold onto it.
so ultimately it is necessary. Goes from your handle bar bolt to the top triple tree. There's a little screw there.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll reconnect it. Better to be safe and it doesn't cost a thing.

Good idea. It doesn't "have to" be there to function,, the things that need a ground to work will find ground.
But the idea is to give a good solid easy ground source instead of running ground through the throttle cables/clutch cable/braided brake line,, etc,,
It's all about current flow and "path of least resistance" stuff.
Get it?
