Here's the deal, I've developed a bell like sound in the fork area. I've found no loose bolts, nothing loose in the head light housing. At first I thought it was a SS cable hitting something, so I zip tied them. No change. Happens mostly over bumps. Would a broken spring cause this? I'm unable to duplicate the sound by tapping a screw driver against various components. Any experience or help would be appreciated. Have not gone to the stealer yet as I trust you folks a hole bunch more. Thanks in advance. Geez
I had the same thing on mine. It was the little reflector inside the headlight. The only way to duplicate it was to bang on the headlight really hard. I took the light apart and tightened it. Worth a look.
My $ .02........I have a noise in my 09 FXDB and swore it was from the front and couldnt find it. Came to be the license plate was loose. I only had 2 bolts in it. just a thought, Mike
Thanks for all your responses folks. I found it. Although I bounced the tool bag around seeing if it made contact with anything, it never made a sound. As I stated I tapped on everything. No bell sound. The one thing I didn't tap on was the front fender....what a melodic sound it makes. Turns out the bag had enough give in the straps that on a bump it would in fact make contact with the fender creating that bell sound. Moved bag, went for a ride, problem solved. Duh! Sometimes it's just too simple. Glad it wasn't expensive. Ya all are the greatest. Geezer
had the same thing happen with an 07 streetbob i had. turned out being the cover for the upper neck nut. the cover was loose. hope this helps. that one drove me nuts for several months, till i fixed it, then traded it off for a streetglide. yeow, what a difference.
