[:@]My Starter has acted up a couple of times now and It's starting to get on my last nerve. The first time it took 4 trys to start my bike. The second time, which was today, I stated the bike in neutral, not ever touching the clutch and it sounded just like I hit the start button while the bike was already started. I think everyone knows that sound. Is anyone else having 07 starter issues?
It kinda sounds like the starter is not getting enough voltage to it to actually throw the starter gear full into the flywheel. This would be the sound you heard as the gears are not meshing but are turning.
Things that it could be:
Loose battery cables.
A bad batterry.
A poorly working charging system.
A bad starter.
Altough I hate to take my bike to the dealer before I would go past checking the voltage on th battery I would take it in since you do have a warranty.
I ride a an 07 Electra and had something like that happen a few times and after a few days I would hit the start button and all I heard was the starter relay under the left side cover clicking but no starter engagement. Turns out the starter had vibrated loose fromwhere itsmounted and wasn't making ground. Tighted up the bolt and it was good to go.
Hi, did any of the tips above work out for you? I hope they did. We are still in the middle of sorting out our "starter" issues but I'll fill you in on what happened when we are at the end of it all. Hopefully it won't be too long now. Thanks for your post on my similar question.. Take care..
