Try this - If it makes the noise you describe put it in gear ( before it's running!) and rock it back and forth, the idea being to move the clutch around a little and find a new point on the clutch ring gear, stick it back in neutral and try it again. This works on mine and is what I'm having to do before it's fixed. Sometimes my starter motor just spins freelyand the above works for thisas well. I believe that the problem (on mine and my brothers at least) is that the ring gear is faulty and the starter motor is simply smacking teeth off it- the rocking in gear finds a new area and enables the bike to fire up. Unfortunately I can't remove the cover to confirm this as no doubt it would invalidate the warranty but so far this is what the evidence we have found points to... Hope this helps. BTW we bought new to get away from maintainance and do more riding!! Mind you, it is ace when it's going!!
