Default Just joined 2013 Dyna Stripped Primary Hole

Hello,
I'm Art from Seattle, WA. (GO SEAHAWKS!). I've always purchased used vehicles (cars/suv's) in the past but decided to FINALLY purchase my first bike, A BRAND SPANKIN NEW 2013 Dyna FXDC Custom Superglide, back in 2013 that is.

I decided to change the fluids myself this year and noticed that there were some metal shavings coming out when I took out the primary drain plug (size 1/2"- 20). When I went to tighten back up, it was bottoming out. So, I decided buy a 1/2"-20 helicoil kit.

Has anyone repaired a 1/2"-20 PRIMARY HOLE? I NEED HELP PLEASE! I think I may have ruined the threads but not sure! I SHOULD HAVE USED A OVER-SIZED PLUG INSTEAD! UGHH.....

Thanks to those (if any) who respond to my amateur mistake,
Art artest7@icloud.com

Unsure as to why you thought the plug was 'bottoming out' ? The plug is supposed to seat, with an o-ring on it.

You can still use the over size plug it has a cutting edge to it it will clean up the threads

I just changed the oil in mine and noticed the bolt not tight just tight enough to seal the o ring. I replaced all drain plug o rings and just put some teflon tape on the threads. Just snug them up. No need to feed them down.
