Default 07 low rider sissy bar install

I have a 07 low rider which I have removed the back rest from at one time. Apparently long ago enough that I didn't recall how much trouble it was. I now am trying to put it back on and am wondering why the heck it takes to put something so simple on a bike is made so complicated. The bolts that go through the fender and into the turn signals are so long they hit the tire and cannot be removed (easily). I did manage to get them out but now cannot get them both back in. I have also managed to cut a wire to the right turn signal trying to get it back through the little bitty slot in the bracket that could have just as easily been bigger. There has to be something I'm missing because I don't hear anyone else complaining about this headache.

If you can't get the bolts back in I would suggest getting a thread chaser to clean up and repair the threads on the bike. As for The bolts themselves, just take em to lowes or Home Depot, they have a board you can screw the bolts into to determine the correct thread size, then just buy new ones. They're usually about a buck a piece but I would suggest grade 8 bolts. Normally this is a relatively easy, quick, and simple job, it just sounds like one of those times where whatever can go wrong will go wrong. Hang in there and you'll get it. As a mechanic with a very short temper, I've learned that when I start getting frustrated I need to take a break cause I simply can't fix anything when I'm losin my ****. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask us. Good luck buddy.
