No spark

No spark
Sitting at traffic lights today and the motor quit on me. Just stopped, no cough, splutter or fart, just stopped, and won't restart. Starter motor spins, motor turns but no bang from the plugs.
Did some quick roadside checks, fuses ok, plenty of juice in battery, gave the spark plug cables a good wiggling to make sure they're connected. Pulled a spark plug cable and used a screw driver to short it to the engine case to see if any spark and saw nada.
No errors codes either which I thought was a bit odd.
I was about 3/4 of a mile from home so I got my daily exercise done and pushed the bike home.
I'm thinking either my coil failed or maybe it's that wretched side stand switch. Is there a way of cheating the side stand switch so I can see if it's the problem or not?
Any other suggestions as to the cause would be welcome.

Minor help maybe in the process of elimination:
Probably wouldn't turn over at all if it was the side stand or any other "safety" / "security" type feature.
Might try checking the voltage at the coil to see if it's getting powered up.

That'd be great Rene! Almost convinced its the CKP but wont hurt to check out other possible offenders.
