91 FXLR Where's the horn???
Anyway have been on a few sites and read the horn should be everywhere from under the battery to under the steering head. Where should it be and does anyone know the color of the wires that should plug into the horn? Second question would be what color are the wires on the handle bar incase I have to cut in there and install.
Thanks in advance.
Ron
When I saw the ad for 'lifesaverhorn.com', I ordered one. And was pleasantly surprised by the ease of using it. No more mistaking the horn button and headlight beam switches, when using the horn at least. A trick I use, that apparently some others don't use, is that I don't wait until the 'stuff' is about to hit the fan before using my horn. Sort of like what I thought loud pipes were supposed to accomplish? In that case, a horn is irrelevant because if the pipes did their supposed trick a cage driver already is aware of a scooters presence, right? Either one, horns or pipes, cannot fend off a cage already invading a rider's space.
I think of a horn as not a 'last line of defense', but as an additional tool to use proactively. Of course a horn, as opposed to load pipes, requires action/awareness on the part of the rider.

Love all the stories, favorite has to be running over the horn. Was at the dealership over the weekend talking about how nobody would follow 1 friend on his iron head. When on the highway stuff was always shaking off from the plate to the shock nuts.
I like this forum as some guys go back to basics, like is the bike on? I have found the smarter I get the dumber things I do, so yes I have checked that . I had it on first and second key click and have even had the rear tire off to look for it, but it is physically not there.
The comment about 3 bikes and no horns is awesome. The fifth Harley I bought is the only one that came with a working horn. Gotta love progress.
OK back to the horn, it should be under the battery and I have had the battery out as well as the suspension dropped and wheel off, so I am assuming I should have seen it if it were there.

The '90 FXR Service Manual shows the horn had two wires: a "black" to ground, and a "tan" that goes to the same circuit breaker as the lights (see middle of diagram below). I would think your '91 would be the same...
