Default OTD Pricing Expectations?

Tomorrow I will be taking a few bikes out for a test ride (2018 Road King Special, 2018 Lowrider or Street Bob, 2017 Lowrider S (used) and 2017 Lowrider (new). I am already leaning towards a 2017 Dyna Lowrider, as I have already had 2 in the past (2001 & 2009) and they were the bikes I put the most miles on and really enjoyed the most. I'd highly consider the Lowrider S, but right now dealerships are not moving an inch on price ... I've seen a couple used Lowrider S going in the high $19k range.

What would you expect to be a fair OTD price for a 2017 FXDL with ABS and security?

Thanks
Mat

Would $14,500.00 be a reasonable price to offer? Could I go lower, or is it irrational?

Went to my local dealer to price out the 2018 models when they first hit the floor and they claimed they were selling at full MSRP only. I'm sure that will change once it gets cold....

I like the 17 street Bob, and the great price for that would be 13.5-14 out the door, new, including everything.

1-This is what I would do. Say you want to buy for the LR for 13,750. You make the offer for 13000. They will do their back and forth show saying whatever is the best they can do. Then you say 13.5 out the door is as much as you are going to pay and whatever they come back with you just stand up and walk away. That's the key, you have to be ready to walk away or you wont get the best deal. If they accepted fine, if they didnt you know where the bottom line is. They may offer 14,500, and you still walk away. After you walk away you make calls to other dealers with the bottom line price you got.
And you have to tell them they are the closest dealer to you, no matter how far away. They want to know that they make money off of your service needs. If they can beat it fine, if not, the original dealer will either call you or just call them back with a number very close to their bottomline

When you call always ask for a sales manager.

2- No matter how good the deal, always get free stuff. Tell them you want to include the first 1000 miles service in the sale. It costs the dealer less than $50 bucks to give you that deal. OR ask for a gift card ( I got $375) so you can buy whatever you need from the dealer.

3- Let us know what you got with pix. Good luck bud

Don't guess. Research your tax, title and such. Do the research on what dealer is giving for the bike. Then add a livable profit he needs.
That last part is what is negotiable. It's pretty hard to beat them at their game but you won't do it grabbing prices out of the air.

Whatever they finally accept, if you are happy with it, go for it. If not, walk. I have negotiated a dozen cars never paying sticker in the last 50 years. Never have done any good at a Harley dealer around here. Twice, they have been 4K above sticker with a lot of add-on stuff. I just walked. Never finance a hobby unless you are rich and your money is doing much better then the finance cost are. Good luck.
PS..never let them know you are paying cash till the deal is made, however. Always let the salesman think you are doing their financing.

I was also testing the waters and was offered a nice $10k for trade on my 2011 FXDC. Took out a few of the newer models but the Dyna's speak to me more. Threw in an offer of $6k cash with my bike for a lowrider-S but so far the dealer has not been back in touch. They want the full $18.5k for it.

If you do NADA on the 2011, appears they are giving you 2000 extra. They can probably get 12000 for it but I doubt you can get 10,000 if you sold it. Just a very rough rounding conclusion.
If a new Harley gives you warm cuddly fillings go for it. If it's a hobby, I would just drive the 2011 till it drops. That should take 15-20 more years.
My 93 Hobby jeep has 290K on it. It is however all over the garage right now but will hopefully be ready for next summer.

I just got a call from a dealership asking if I was still interested in getting a FXDLS they were pulling one from their rental fleet with 10,000 miles to sell. $21,500.00. I told them I already got mine brand new, and that price seems high for a used S. They replied, "Supply and Demand, lol". I can see the last new '17 Dynas going more than MSRP.

Wow ..... that's insanity! I had contacted a local dealership inquiring about an FXDLS that they had listed in their online inventory, he quoted me $15,500.00 over the phone, I asked him a couple of times and he confirmed he was talking about the 'S' version. When I got there later that day, he said that price was for a standard FXDL before tax, tags, etc and the 'S' had already been sold. I was pretty pissed ... but wasn't surprised.
