I like the idea of 204s, not looking for max HP and torque so much as long distance performance. I do a lot if touring so a medium lift is probably a good way to go.
When you change your cams, I highly suggest changing your inner cam bearings to the upgraded Torrington bearings. You may not need them with the 204's but it's cheap insurance. I don't know why H-D doesn't use the better Torrington type bearings like they used to.

Another thing that I have noticed during two long distance trips over 2000 miles each on my bike. Running in 6th gear on the super highway with my cruise set on 90 MPH (145 K/Hr) my fuel consumption averaged 45 miles per gallon (19 K per liter).

Slowing down on the smaller highways and running mostly in 5th, my fuel consumption actually dropped to about 40 mpg. Hot ******* on the 2-laner curves dropped me into the upper 30's.

The 204 cams are very versatile. Running in 3rd gear on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the bike pulls strong from 35 MPH to 100 before redline. I have killed many a sportbikes with that formula. Not having to downshift allows me to jump them before they know what's happened. Once they see me, they begin their gearbox rowing to spin those sewing machines up but by then I am long gone. For relaxing, I run in 4th in those situations and the bike does almost as good on those quick low-end sprints.

Not advocating that behavior from anyone else, just endorsing the results of my upgrade.

I like having the added range that a not-so-thirsty engine gives me while delivering great performance.

As reference, I have other bikes that include the new 125 HP water-cooled BMW boxer. My H-D (with its upgraded suspension and motor) WILL run with the BMW. Skillfully riding the BMW will put it ahead of the H-D BUT the H-D will not be far behind. Gear for gear, though, immediate roll-on jump is stronger than the BMW.
