Default Hell with heated grips.

My heated grips took a **** 7 days out of warranty and like an idiot I replaced them on my lrs. With 16 inch el diabalos on, that is a mother ****er. So much wiring I'm ready to convert to Amish. I like heated grips in the summer on a cool night or when it rains, but when it's less than 35 out, they just don't do anything.

So I finally bit the bullet and bought heated gloves for about the same price and holy **** are they nice. I leave for work early so when it's 20 degrees out and I ride my 41 mile commute (all highway) my hands freeze so bad that it's hard to squeeze the clutch or brake. Not anymore!!!

If if you're considering heated grips, trust me, spend the money on heated gloves. I wish someone had told me this. So for anyone on the fence, go HEATED GLOVES!!! That's all for now.

Not sure actually, they were the only ones left at the HD dealer. They're waterproof, sheepskin leather, run off a switch hard wired to the battery, or a "optional battery" that isn't included, and they cost about 200 with my discount.

There is 3 heat settings and the heat is spread evenly throughout the entire hand and fingers. I love them lol

I've always wondered about those...

Is the heat in the grip side, air side, or both?
How does the power wiring route? Up thru the jacket arms and down the torso to a plug somewhere?

Just curious.

Heats on both sides. Wires run through jacket and connect to a switch that straps to your leg or wherever. The switch plugs in to a plug that stays with the bike. I ran mine from the battery, under the seat, out to the side of the fender.

I honestly would have thought you'd own a set. Beats the hell out of hearing my hands on the engine

How much of a hassle is it to deal with the wires in the sleeves?

I'm good with insulated stuff down to the mid 30s. I don't ride below that. Weather here is too unpredictable and they have a MAJOR love affair with salt. I just drive if the weather looks sloppy or too cold. ***** fair-weather rider, here! LOL!

I am looking for a set that are externally powered. I have a gerbings jackets and vest that I don’t use because for some reason I can never remember to unplug and I always pull the cables like an idiot when I dismount.

I used to have ski boot heater inserts that ran off external batteries for hours. I imagine there are similar for gloves.

Harley heated grips has mixed reviews if you search the forum.

I opted for heat demons. Not many reviews but nothing negative online. I can vouch these things are solid, well made and also super hot to the point I can't have it on high setting cause it's too hot unless I'm riding at -30 which will never happen.

I avoid most harley parts unless there is an abundance of positive reviews. They just don't compare to the specialized after market brands out there usually.

Quite Happy with Fly Ignitor Gloves have rode comfortably in 30 Degrees and doubt I ride much any colder .. Living in North FL doesn't get that cold often anyway .. I do like they are Battery Equipped without wires their Lithium Rechargeable Batteries last a good 4 hours set on #2 which is plenty warm, #3 is just too hot so figure wouldn't last very long anyway .. Not sure how well these would work far up North in the 20's for those that ride in it .. But for my area they are darn good ..

Just out of curiosity, you said you ride in the summer and rain. I assume the groves are insulated as well. Wouldn’t that be way too much? I wear gloves while riding ( spring summ fall) but not insulated. I’m guessing you’ll have to carry an extra pair?
