I'm not sure it's that simple. Without knowing fpr sure how the factory ECU can or can't adapt and how the various piggyback tuners can or can't overwrite on the fly it's difficult to say what conditions (if any) the ECU actually sets new advance curves. There may be a period of time where it discards old data in favor of new.

I have some experience with older CAN bus ECUs from Ford and with flash tuners from Superchips and standalone ECUs from Megasquirt, so I'm.just extrapolating. I could be WAY off base.
