I have a H-D quick release screen on one of my bikes & 1/4 fairing on another.
I love the 1/4 fairing . Bike looks great & the wind at highway speeds is greatly reduced.
I have never been able to enjoy the quick release screen though. I move it up & down on the forks & have tried all my helmets but I always seem to get buffeting. One day I will get it right.......

I never could get it right....only way I got no buffeting was with no helmet.
I tried the rifle windshield brackets that are supposed to cure buffering along with a clearview recurve shield and memphis shades wings...still had some buffeting.
I was really happy when my wife dumped my bike over and broke it....
went dark tint on mine, looks better outside of the garage in the sun but will have to wait a couple more months for outdoor photo because it's -23 degrees below zero just on the other side of that garage door!!
Only time I use the WS is when I am on a ride longer than a hour. I hate the way it looks but I will say I am not dead tired after a good 300+ mile ride.

I have the HD Quarter Fariing with Bungking adapter and 49mm HD quick releases, and a Laminar lip. Check the fairing sticky thread. I love it for short to medium rides at or below speed limit.
I also have the HD compact windshield (58348-06) that I use for longer/faster trips. It does a great job and minimal buffeting at the higher speeds and less tiring.
Youll never get rid of all buffeting. Its physics. I just stay at 80 or lower and Im fine.

I only put it on for long rides but its easy on and off with an Allen wrench, comes in smoke and clear too + Doug is very cool to deal with, look up "Windvest".
Provides great wind protection and very little buffeting.
Yesterday's ride to Whiskey Flat Days in Kernville, CA, was 371 miles round trip, start/end in Simi Valley. The ride was about 30% curvy hills, and 70% desert flats.
It made a huge difference, found myself going 90-100 on the straights, without having a death grip on the bars. It made that much of a difference in comfort.
Buffeting? A smidget. Did it matter? The comfort and benefits of having the windshield far exceeded any drawbacks.
Here is the unit I bought, it took about 10 minutes to install:
For height, you should just be looking over the windshield, not through it. Wind should be pushed over your helmet if adjusted correctly. Most buffeting comes from under the shield so some have place a bag or other means to cover some of the gaps.
