Try keeping your rpm's higher, to me cruising is 2800 to 3600 rpm. 10 mph in first, man don't shift that till your going 20-25 mph min. into second. Harleys are high performance engines , you have to open them up to feel the freedom !
In town driving....35-40 speed limits 2800-3600 RPMs! No way! Scream'n gears! I've ridden for many yrs and never heard of that type of riding. Highway, yes, but not threw town or residential areas. I should be able to cruise at 2100-2300 RPMs in any gear with no problems. Sorry I don't agree
If you have an owner's manual for that bike then I would suggest following it's suggested shift points, if you don't have the manual I think you can download one from the HD site.
May I suggest shifting from 1st to 2nd at 15-20 mph, 2nd to 3rd at 25-30 mph, 3rd to 4th at 35-45 mph , 5th to 6th above 60 mph. You're not going to hurt the engine by increasing the rpms a little more, yes the exhaust sounds good at low speeds but your engine is getting beat up lugging it.
I'm running SE11 exhaust with no baffles and just ordered TTI 's. As soon as I get them in and installed I'll do the 3 runs.
You'll be pleased with the TTI's. I've used them on several exhausts and have the W158's in my Big Shots. They do a great job of helping to reduce reversion, increase exhaust gas velocity, and deepen the tone of the pipes.
When it comes to auto tuning set the minimum MAP to 30Kpa to prevent data collection in the transient fuel - decel areas. Set up the auto tune run so you can see the data hits; when a fuel cell goes red it has collected the maximum amount of data for that auto tune run...
Haven't ridden the bike in days, after work went for a little ride and she's running like poop! Missing like crazy, almost died at a stop, very unhappy of the performance. Have the PV1 on "88 Improved" TT'Is came in today so tomorrow I will install them and do 3 20 min. Runs in auto tune....see what happens . I also bought new Taylor 409 10mm plug wires to slap on just in case the wires are at fault. Hope they come in soon. Guess I'll have to ride the Sporty till I straighten stuff out. Hope to have an update tomorrow or Sunday.
That is something too take into consideration however have used close to 3 gals with no prob. So I have eliminated that from the equation.
With the same gas I did get a chance to do 1 of the 3 auto tunes. Took a 1/2 hr run to the gas station? Wow! Did the first tune and I can hear and feel the difference already. I'll do 2 more tomorrow. I think by the time I do 2 more she'll be running like a clock. Best 5 bills I've spent in a long time. I'll let you all know after I do the others
