Default Two oil leaks

I'm servicing a friends '04 Dyna and noticed an oil leak around the shifter shaft where it comes out of the primary. After taking the primary cover off and adjusting the chain I inspected the outer tube that the shifter shaft goes through and realized it had two groves that appear to be for "0" rings. I found two "o" rings in the gasket kit from Genuine James and assumed they went on the tube. I like to have never gotten the small inspection plate back on but, I did. After final assembly I went for a test ride and the shifter was hardly able to move. Seems as if the tube collapsed on the shaft and it wouldn't shift. So, back to the shop and take the "o" rings off. I cleaned both the tube and the inspection plate with brake cleaner and used clear RTV to seal off the tube from the plate. I figure it's gonna' leak again. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated. The other leak is where the clutch cable goes into the transmission. I'll get to it later. Thanks for reading and any help will be appreciated.

It's most definitely going to leak again. That rtv wont last very long. Did you check the gasket that goes around the the inspection plate? The shifter shaft rotates inside the inspection plate yes, but i don't see 2 o rings collapsing that steel tube.

Default Two Leaks

Brownie 4412, I agree that it's gonna' leak again. I did replace the inspection plate gasket. So, I think it's okay. That tube that the shaft goes through isn't metal or at least it's not steel. There's a seal at the back of the tube that seals the tube and the inner primary. But, I don't remember ever seeing a seal between the tube and the outer primary. I've looked in my service manual and there's no mention of a seal. (or at least I didn't find it.) I'll search a little deeper tonight. Maybe I just overlooked it.
Now, the other leak is on the right side where the clutch cable goes into the transmission. I believe that leak is the trans. fluid going down the cable and leaking out of the cable sleeve. Is the metal part of the cable assembly bonded or crimped to the cable housing? If so, I broke the bond and it's gonna' leak again, too. Thanks for trying to help me. If I ever fix these two leaks I'll be sure to post what I've done. Maybe it'll help someone else. I appreciate your reply.
