How much **** are you trying to carry? I have a "sea" bag i picked up at a naval surplus store for $15. Its HUGE and it can be strapped to a sissybar. I can easily get a weeks worth of stuff and my tent in it, and when it's full it makes one hell of a back rest. It also has straps so it can be used as a backpack or duffel bag. And it's waterproof. You can't beat it.

I'm former USAF. The "sea bag" is a "duffle bag" without the straps. LIttle much for me. I'm 62 and only 5'5". I was more interested in what the sissy bar has to offer with the backpack solution.
I use the detachable one-piece HD sissy bar for my wife when I used to take her. Now, I take the backpad off and remove the support frame from my ILBE pack and the sissy bar slides right in there! Strap it down with the buckles and I'm good to go! used that for long trips as if fits an insane amount of stuff. Otherwise put my backpack inside one of my LeatherPro's and I'm good to go!
Under the leather was a regular old backpack. Medium height quick detach standard sissy bar with a motherwell luggage rack on the fender. Got creative with bungee cords and was able to carry a tent, sleeping bag, lawn chair, 3 days worth of clothes, hygiene supplies, 1 extra pair of shoes, chaps and my jacket. Took this setup on 2 trips to the tune of about 2k miles total.
