I have a 04 FXDLI and I purchased 9'' risers, wanted to know if I need cable extensions or if I have enough stock wire slack. I have read different threads online starting both claims. Can someone verify which direction I need to go in, please let me know
9"s is a lot to ask of stock,, my thought is your going to need all new cables and brake line with wire extensions.
The only thing to do is go for it,, take a day and try the install if it doesn't work you can at least make mock measurements of what you need by using a section of wire or string/yarn. then put everything back so you can ride until you get the needed parts.
I managed 8” tbars on my LRS, without changing anything, and there was enough wire and clutch cable for more, but the brake line was my limiting factor. The clutch I did have to rerouted to come up the right frame rail and cross over the steering head, but that only cost me two clamps.
I couldn't get an extra 9" out of my stock 99 DWG wiring and cables. Depends on the bars. If you stick with the mini apes and add 9" to that...doubtful.
