Hey guys. I've recently acquired a 2014 Street Bob and noticed the check engine light and security light (bike does not have a security system) were coming on intermittently during my last ride. I recently changed the bars back to stock and I have a feeling this is the root of the problem since it didn't occur prior to swapping the bars. The previous owner had installed Z bars, which I did not care for, so I changed them back to stock. While installing the Z bars, the previous owner cut and resoldered the end of the wires for the right hand control module. I believe this is what is causing the problem. My plan is to cut the wires just beyond the solder joints, crimp new terminals on the wires and install a new JAE MX19 female end. I have pulled the following codes: U0001, U0140, U0141, U0142, and U0156. Is there anything else I should check that could be causing this problem? I appreciate your help with this.

 

Fixed! Shitty soldered splice by previous owner. Cut out the spliced wire (about 2" from connector), crimped new ends on the wire, and pushed the wires into a new JAE MX 19 female connector. Plugged in the new connector and I've done everything but turn the bike upside down trying to force another code. No more codes thankfully. I believe she's good to go.

 

I double posted this, but if it helps someone else run down a similar problem its worth it.
